Mark 8:27-36
Who do you say that I am? Peter knew, at least he thought he knew. On the one hand, he was aware that Jesus was the Christ, but on the other hand he didn’t want to accept the destiny that Jesus was to fulfill. Jesus even called him “Satan” not because he was Satan, but because his idea of how things should be were not aligned with God’s will.
Jesus was sent to do the will of His father.
If we want to follow Him, we must deny ourselves, our ideas, our desires, our wills and we shall actually gain our lives. That abundant life that is spoken of in John 10:10
