Healthy Menus and The Biggest Loser

***UPDATE*** I've revised the menus and replaced the original with the revised version.

I finally convinced my family that no matter what, we need to change our eating habits. I need to lose a lot of weight and dh needs to lower his cholesterol and triglycerides, dc need to learn healthy habits now so that they don't have to work so hard to change when they are older. I've learned a lot about nutrition over the years, but I just wasn't practicing what I knew.

Here are the menus I've made up for April based on The Biggest Loser Cookbook. So far we have liked everything I've tried. I have adjusted a bit here and there and next time I make certain dishes, I need to remember to adjust the spices, some are really spicy!

Now, I have to give all the glory to the Lord for it is through Him that I am making this change. I don't have the strength or self-discipline to do what is "best" without Him. My "flesh" is self-satisfying and not obedient. It is through His Holy Spirit and His grace that I am able to change at all. Having said that, I have lost 6 lbs already. PTL!

On my blog I posted a healthy orange-banana smoothie I came up with today. I don't know if you can fit that into your new diet or not, but it's a great way to get your fruits and calcium in for the day, and it's very filling!

Your date with R this weekend sounds like fun. That was a nice gift from the ladies SS class!

P.S. And I LOVE your new blog look too. It's very bright and cheery. That's mainly the reason I decided I needed a new blog look for spring--you inspired me!
